The DeKalb County Redevelopment Commission on Nov. 12 voted to adopt resolution 2025-RDC-4, formalizing previously approved funding to support the Sheriff’s Department in establishing a SWAT team.
An RDC staff member explained the resolution authorizes up to $34,464.71 for shields, a trailer and communications equipment tied to the SWAT effort. "This is the official written resolution approving that funding," the staff member said. S3 moved to adopt resolution 2025-RDC-4 and, with no opposition, the commission carried the motion.
Separately, the commission approved a claim authorizing payment of $13,199 for a bridge/trailer for the Sheriff’s Department as part of the resolution’s equipment purchases. The commission also approved a $336 payment to Leitner Law Firm for time spent drafting the sheriff’s department resolution.
Commissioners did not record a roll-call vote by name in the transcript; the chair called for ayes and declared the motions carried. Staff were instructed to sign the resolution and Susan was authorized to issue payment for the trailer invoice.
