The DeKalb County Drainage Board met at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 20 and approved a series of routine and project-specific items affecting drainage, subdivisions and utility work across the county.
Actions taken included approval of the Nov. 6, 2025 meeting minutes and several plats and permits the board said had favorable recommendations from the surveyor's office. The board approved: a replat in Section 4 along County Road 72 in Spencerville (applicant represented by Saraland Surveying); Hotel Acres Section 2, a one-lot minor subdivision just south of State Road 8; and a replat on East Houston Street in Garrett to create six lots for a school building-trades program, contingent on the City of Garrett agreeing to accept the development's stormwater into its system.
The board also approved a consent waiver allowing petitioners to vacate a portion of the Elmer Dittmer regulated drain (No. 218-00-0) near County Road 68 and State Road 3 to allow construction of a small pond for irrigation and frost control, and granted a utility permit to AEP to relocate and rebuild power lines along County Road 68 between County Road 35 and County Road 39. Several approvals were conditional on final sign-off or coordination with the surveyor's office.
Most votes were voice votes recorded as "Aye"; the meeting transcript does not record individual vote tallies or recorded roll-call votes for these items. Several motions were moved and seconded by board members and approved without additional amendment.
The surveyor’s office reported progress on maintenance projects and a completed reconstruction on Bear Creek. The board agreed that, barring urgent items, its next scheduled meeting will be Dec. 18, 2025.
