Board approves Graeber Post manufacturing site in Ashley with stormwater pond

The Calpine Drainage Board approved Nov. 6 a development plan for the Graeber Post manufacturing facility at 804 H. L. Thompson Junior Drive in Ashley, Indiana. Ken Wilson, who said he represents JICI and is the developer for Graeber Post, described a roughly 17-acre parcel in the town’s industrial area and said the project will develop about 12 acres now with a wet retention pond designed for a 100-year storm plus one foot of freeboard.
Wilson said the pond’s size both accommodates the watershed and provides fill for building pad elevation. He noted four stub drain lines are shown on the plan to avoid disturbing paved or stone areas. The surveyor reported the drainage design was adequately sized, ties into city storm infrastructure on the east side, and included required freeboard; the surveyor’s office offered a favorable recommendation. The board moved and approved the development plan as presented.
Justin Hoffman, the project engineer, was identified as present but not immediately at the podium; technical questions were deferred to him if needed. The board recorded no further substantive objections and carried the motion to approve.
The developer and surveyor will follow up with any technical permits or conditions required by county and city stormwater controls.
