The Mason County Board of Commissioners on Nov. 25 approved motions to set preliminary property tax levies for 2026 and to continue final certification to the Dec. 9 commission meeting.
Jennifer Beyerly, Mason County Support Services, briefed the commission that the levies presented were prepared with information from the county assessor and noted a 2.44% inflation factor relevant to rate limits for taxing districts. The actions taken were: setting the 2026 current expense property tax levy at $11,230,126.50; setting the 2026 road property tax levy at $11,982,340.51 (which includes a $2,160,000 diversion); certifying refund levies for collection in 2026 (county general fund $433.26; Road District No. 1 $3,281.23); and adopting levy resolutions to be finalized at the Dec. 9 meeting.
Commissioners moved each action separately and approved each by voice vote. Beyerly explained the county continues to await requested levy amounts from some taxing districts (deadline Dec. 1 for submissions) and that the Dec. 9 meeting will finalize the certification to the assessor.
Next steps: the commission will take final action on Dec. 9 to adopt resolutions certifying the 2026 property tax levies to the county assessor.
