Battalion Chief Don Foster, who serves as the fire marshal for Sierra Vista Fire Department, described the 53rd annual firefighters' Christmas drive on KWCD's First Watch.
Recipient registration will take place Dec. 5–6 from 8 a.m. to noon at Fire Station 3 (675 Julio Cesar Drive); registrants must bring ID, proof of residence in Sierra Vista, Hereford or Palominas (for example a utility bill), and documentation showing guardianship for children. The drive serves children from birth through age 12, and organizers said they will issue receipts for cash donations.
Donations of new, unwrapped toys and cash or gift cards can be dropped at any Sierra Vista Fire Medical Services station. Don Foster described live radio remotes and donation stations (for example at Arby's and Ace/Slotsky's parking lot) and volunteer opportunities for wrapping and delivery; deliveries to families are scheduled for Dec. 13. Foster said some donations are used to buy items for harder-to-match age groups or children with special needs.
