Trees Forever courthouse plantings: Volunteers from Trees Forever outlined a proposed planting plan for the courthouse lawn that includes a bur oak, disease-resistant Valley Forge elms, redbuds and maples, and a memorial tree with a plaque. The group estimated a project cost in the neighborhood of $4,000 (not to exceed $4,000), discussed maintenance and irrigation constraints, and proposed an educational planting event in coordination with local school groups.
Other business: Staff updated the board on roads planning, an intern/ job-shadow program with a local school, and a state rule change that removes the requirement for a board wet signature on final FM-funded voucher payments (staff will continue to present completed-project reports to the board). Supervisors asked HR and department heads to draft a consistent countywide PPE/footwear policy and to return with a proposal.
The board then adjourned; several items will return for follow-up or scheduling, including the PPE policy and the planned second reading for Ordinance 2507.
