The Zoning Board of Appeals for the Village of Skokie adopted a flexible meeting schedule for 2026 that will set meetings on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Skokie Village Hall, but only as complete applications are received and in accordance with the legal notice requirements of Chapter 118-8 of the Skokie code.
Board members voted by voice to adopt the recommended approach as a way to provide scheduling flexibility and reduce frequent cancellations. One commissioner raised a concern that locking in only one meeting during some months (for example, winter) could create an undue hardship for petitioners who would otherwise have to wait an extra month; staff and the chair discussed the option to schedule additional meetings as needed to avoid that outcome.
The chair said staff will schedule meetings and provide the required legal notices; the board confirmed the dates and will proceed subject to quorum and notice rules. The board did not set fixed calendar dates for every month, preferring the flexible approach to allow meetings to be added as applications arrive.
