Joliet staff previews consent agenda, public hearings and major change orders for Nov. 4 council meeting

The City Manager reviewed items staff expects to bring forward at the City Council—s Nov. 4 regular meeting, highlighting multiple capital-project change orders, procurement items and two public hearings.

Among consent and action items previewed were: a change order number 3 with a deduction of $11,139.97 and payment request number 4 for the Bridal Street/Nicholson-to-Center Street roadway-improvement project (payment request $33,566.80); approval to purchase a Ford F-250 service truck for $66,063.70 for the electrical division; a purchase of bulk roadway sign materials for $42,128.75; a $20,000 change order and a $150,000 final payment request for the 2025 Hickory Spring Creek cleaning project; and replacement waste pumps at the wastewater treatment plant for approximately $60,000.

Staff also previewed a high-value pay estimate related to the Spring Creek Phase 1 water-main improvement project (a deduction of $1,145,302.94 and a pay estimate of $1,302,885). The manager noted the city will also discuss the 2025 property-tax levy in the days required before a vote and warned that some items will require public hearing(s).

Two public hearings were flagged for the coming meeting: an ordinance to designate an area as the Joliet River's Edge redevelopment zone and a resolution to approve an annexation agreement for roughly 8.1 acres east of Thorough Bridal Lane, which staff said will be subdivided into six home lots.

No final council action was taken at the pre-council meeting; the City Manager and staff asked councilors if they had questions and agreed to provide additional documentation as requested.
