Tinley Park approves AED donations to youth teams and routine contracts for salt, training center and tourism marketing

At its Oct. 21 meeting the Tinley Park Village Board unanimously approved donations of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to two youth sports organizations and adopted several routine contracts the village had vetted at prior Committee of the Whole meetings.
The board adopted Resolution R‑2025‑R‑126 to donate AED devices to the Tinley Park Bulldogs, who practice and play on property managed by the Tinley Park Park District. Trustees and staff said the donation was prompted by a prior on‑field medical incident; the village asked each recipient organization to sign a waiver releasing the village from future claims related to use, maintenance or operation of the devices. Fire Chief Steve Klotz and Village Manager Pat Carr were credited with facilitating the purchases.
A separate resolution, R‑2025‑R‑127, authorized donation of AEDs to the Tinley Park Bobcats under the same terms. Both donation resolutions were adopted after motions and roll call votes.
Trustees also approved a contract with Mannitz Media for a winter tourism marketing campaign (Resolution R‑2025‑R‑124) and an intergovernmental agreement (Resolution R‑2025‑R‑013) with the Village of Orland Park to use an indoor public safety training center. Trustee Michael Mueller said the agreement will cover police department training use (not fire) and that Orland Park provided a 50% discount on normal rates for the first six months; trustees also discussed a side agreement to allow Tinley Park police retirees who live in Tinley Park to qualify locally for certain training requirements.
Finally, the board approved a contract with Morton Salt Inc. for bulk road salt at $74.49 per ton (Resolution R‑2025‑R‑122); the contract had been discussed at the Oct. 7 Committee of the Whole meeting.
Each motion was moved, seconded and carried on roll call during the meeting. The mayor and trustees thanked staff and volunteers for their assistance on these items.
