Holmes County adds Presidents' Day to 2026 holiday schedule

Members discussed an existing practice of giving employees a "birthday" day off within the fiscal year instead of Presidents' Day. Speaker 4 summarized the research: "It appears that most surrounding counties have Presidents' Day, which is a holiday that we did not have here in Holmes County." The board moved and approved the holiday list by voice vote.
The change will mean county staff follow the amended holiday schedule; staff noted floating birthday leave can still be taken within the fiscal year (Oct. 1–Sept. 30) as previously described.
