Baker County authorizes submission of Safe Routes to School grant application for 2032 solicitation

Speaker 1 urged coordination with the school district, observing that schools can identify pedestrian routes and priority crossing improvements. Speaker 11 (school staff liaison) said the school superintendent and DOT contacts had been engaged and that the district is likely on board for at least the high school route discussed.
Commissioners voted to authorize staff to prepare and submit the application; staff said the board’s approval only allows submission and the county will still need to complete additional public outreach and technical work if the application moves forward.
