The letter, displayed during the meeting, thanked Campion for initiating third‑party testing, convening interagency coordination, and advancing review of the landfill's permit and operational history. "On behalf of the Lake County Water Authority, I extend our sincere appreciation for your continued collaboration and leadership in addressing the environmental concerns associated with the Mid Florida Materials Landfill," the letter states.
Trustees emphasized the need for continued monitoring, cooperation with DEP and other agencies, and transparent public communication about next steps. The board did not authorize litigation or regulatory action at this meeting; staff said they will continue to coordinate with county and state partners and report back to the board on technical findings and any necessary next steps.
