Airport selects AWOS-3PT, West apron survey scheduled; runway restriping bid expected

Avcon told the advisory group that the airport’s automatic weather observing system (AWOS) will use an AWOS-3PT model, that the monitor and computer will be located in the AMS building, and that a 30-foot tower at the southeast corner is planned as part of the design.
"The AWOS at 3 PT... it's the AWOS-3PT," Noah (Avcon) said during the presentation. He described the proposed location as the southeast open area with the clearest path for the antenna and said the AMS building utility closet will house the computer while the lobby will display the weather monitor.
Noah also reported that FAA grant funds are in place for the West Apron Rehabilitation Project and that Southeastern Surveyors is scheduled to perform a topographic survey next week, with a deliverable expected about two weeks later to begin design. On runway painting and numbering, staff said there is a statewide contractor and that a bid of about $50,000 was received; they aim to execute a contract near the beginning of the year and will provide details on the expected outage time for striping.
