Santa Rosa County proclaims Nov. 11 Veterans Day; veterans services report increased volunteer activity

Chairman read the proclamation declaring November 11 Veterans Day and asked citizens to honor service members and participate in ceremonies scheduled at the Veterans Park in Milton. "Passed and adopted by the Board of County Commissioners on this November 2025," the chairman said when reading the proclamation.
Veterans Services staff reported recent program metrics to the board: the county’s Day of Caring involved 187 volunteers — roughly 646 service hours across 16 projects — which the presenter said generated approximately $21,326 in community impact compared with last year. The staff highlighted partnerships with United Way 211, the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs and local veterans organizations; the office also described benefits counseling, appeals assistance and outreach services for active‑duty service members preparing for separation.
Commissioners thanked the veterans and staff. One commissioner noted that veteran services touch dozens of residents daily and praised the team's casework, while another said the presentation undercut earlier insinuations that county veteran services were inadequate.
