The advisory board handled routine administrative business before hearing presentations. Members approved the August 11 minutes (motion by Member 4, second by Member 6) and approved the proposed 2026 meeting dates (motion by Member 4, second by Member 3). Staff reminded members that required ethics training must be completed by Dec. 31 and that Anita (office manager) can accept training affidavits and certificates.
Staff also explained that the department has expanded from "Parks and Trails" to "Parks and Water Resources." Bobby Bonilla was introduced in remarks as promoted to assistant county manager with oversight including fleet and public works; Angela Harold was named operations director overseeing parks, trails and facilities; the parks and trails director role was also noted as filled and staff said meetings will be run by the parks director and assisted by staff member Gullis.
Project updates covered: Ferndale (observation tower, fishing pier and kayak launch with construction slated to begin in December), Pear Park Gateway (additional parking and stormwater improvements underway), Hancock Trail Segment 5 (non‑motorized multi‑use trail scheduled to open in December), and the Golden Triangle Regional Park (public‑private partnership with city of Tavares and the YMCA; architect approved and community meetings held). The board adjourned and set the next meeting for February 9.
