During its Dec. 1 meeting the Fort Myers Beach Town Council approved multiple administrative resolutions in a single block of business.
Finance Director Joe Wansick presented a modification to the town’s accounting software contract to move from Tyler ERP Pro to Tyler Munis. The amendment increases startup costs by $17,100 and raises annual fees by $1,613; staff proposed funding the upgrade using $35,684 in unspent implementation funds from the prior fiscal year. Wansick and councilors said the Munis system adds a stronger budget module, project-accounting and an automated federal-award schedule that will help the town track FEMA projects and grants more efficiently. Staff estimated a possible go-live by the start of the next fiscal year (Oct. 1) subject to implementation work.
Community Services Director Jeff Haughey described a $350,000 state appropriation for South Water Tower renovation and mitigation, matched by $350,000 from town or other sources. The appropriation will support roof repairs, facade restoration, security cameras and fencing; staff said quotes for the roof are already in hand, but cautioned timelines may be affected by material and supply constraints following recent hurricanes.
Finance staff also presented a resolution updating authorized banking signatories for town accounts and Florida Municipal Investment Trust investments. All three administrative items passed on unanimous votes.
Council asked staff to coordinate implementation scheduling for Munis and for grant administration, and directed follow-up as needed to finalize contracts and budget transfers.
