Okeechobee EDC reports new marketing tools, site readiness work and grant‑writing support for Commerce Park

King said the EDC created an interactive map of the airport industrial park and Commerce Park showing lots and utility capacities; the EDC also received three marketing assets from the Florida First Sites program and a complimentary grant‑writing team that will help identify and pursue grants for the Commerce Park.
"We have successfully had $38,000,000 committed in capital investment for the future," King said, and she listed 27 active projects the EDC is shepherding. She emphasized workforce and site readiness work, career exploration programs that included 73 students in a youth leadership program, and a strategy to coordinate services among the county, chamber, TDC and other stakeholders.
Commissioners praised the EDC's marketing and collaboration work and asked for the Florida Power & Light utility‑capacity details to be shared with staff prior to an upcoming meeting. King said she would provide the site capacity data and associated natural gas information next week.
The board did not take formal action on the presentation; commissioners expressed support for continued county‑EDC collaboration.
