The Warrick County Solid Waste Management District approved the monthly claims totaling $187,715.34, noting a vendor label correction on the claims list (4 J's Hardware should read Express Appointment Services). The claims motion passed unanimously after a board member moved and a second was given.
Staff reported two recent public events: a paper-shredding event that filled approximately six and a half large totes, and an inaugural e-waste event at the district’s recycling center that served about 178 vehicles over four hours. Staff counted material equivalent to roughly one semi-load of electronics and stacked 26 Gaylords and 24 skids full of flat-screen TVs. Staff said all drop-offs were checked for residency and that no one was turned away.
Operations staff estimated the e-waste event’s processing cost by comparing recent regional event weights and preliminarily estimated the event would cost between $8,000 and $10,000; the final invoice had not arrived at the Oct. 16 meeting. Staff proposed using credits from potential container sales to help offset that cost; the board approved declaring containers surplus and pursuing a private sale under statute to apply credit to the invoice.
