District to use Sourcewell cooperative buying option for baler, seeks local site visit and pricing

She said participating prices can include significant discounts (transcript cited about 22% for compaction equipment and 10% for recycling product lines) and that the vendor (Municipal Equipment of Louisville) would perform installation, remove the old baler if requested, and include a one-year maintenance check as part of the purchase.
Operations staff (Freddie) told the board the district has shipped nearly 2,000,000 pounds for the year and that current markets mean some commodities (plastics) are not economical to sell. Staff will schedule vendor site visits and collect formal quotes to present cost details and schedule options at a later meeting.
The board treated the presentation as informational and did not vote to award equipment at the Oct. 16 meeting. Staff will return with firm pricing and a recommendation for purchase or RFP depending on final numbers and statutory compliance.
