The Calimesa City Council ratified its annual mayor and mayor pro tem rotation during its Dec. 1 meeting, confirming the movement of Mayor Pro Tem Cervantes to mayor and Councilmember Manley to mayor pro tem under the rotation policy established earlier this year by Resolution 2025‑52.

City staff explained the rotation policy and the procedural requirement that a majority vote (three or more votes) ratify the nominees. A councilmember moved and seconded the ratification, which passed unanimously. The body then took the related successor agency action: the council appointed the incoming mayor to serve as chair of the successor agency and the incoming mayor pro tem as vice chair; that motion also passed 5‑0 and the successor agency meeting was adjourned.

During the discussion staff noted a small follow‑up item to clarify whether future language should automatically tie successor‑agency chair roles to the mayoral rotation; they said staff would return with suggested language changes if needed. Council members used their remarks to thank outgoing leaders and to welcome the incoming mayor.
