Grant County commissioners approve towing rotation, EMS fee changes and multiple administrative items

The ordinance, presented by Mr. Harker and EMA Director Mr. Jackson, sets minimum registration requirements and creates a rotation mechanism to ensure fairness in dispatch selection. The board opened the matter for public comment and, hearing none, approved the ordinance by voice vote.
Commissioners also approved Ordinance 18‑2025, revising the county emergency medical services fee schedule. The EMS director outlined proposed increases including volunteer reimbursement per run from $60 to $70, ground mileage from $18 to $20, and adjustments to advanced life‑support and basic life‑support charges. Because the ordinance changes fees, the commissioners approved it for publication and a 30‑day public notice period required before the fee schedule becomes effective.
The board adopted Resolution 9‑2025 to update ADA Title 6 coordinator procedures by adding an additional coordinator (Felicity) to provide redundancy for nondiscrimination and disability access compliance.
On employee benefits, outside consultant Mitch Caperson reviewed group benefit renewals and stop‑loss quotes; commissioners voted to proceed with the recommended renewals, keeping employee premium rates largely unchanged and noting an estimated $200,000 difference in laser liability in favor of the proposed option.
Other actions approved or taken under advisement included: accepting a single reassessment bid from Nexus Group for consideration and placement on the next meeting agenda, tabling MOUs with township trustees, and approving a consultant proposal (UCS Management) not to exceed $15,000 for public listening sessions around Exit 255/I‑69.
