Grant County commissioners voted on Nov. 3 to amend the county vehicle title ordinance to require prior written board approval before any county vehicle may be sold, traded or transferred.
The new Section 6, adopted as part of Ordinance No. 16, requires that any department, board, elected official or agency seeking to sell, trade in or transfer a county vehicle must submit a formal written request to the Board of Commissioners that explains the reason for the transaction and provides all relevant details. The ordinance specifies that failure to comply may result in administrative action or other remedies as determined by the board.
The presiding commissioner opened a two‑minute public comment period for the ordinance; no members of the public spoke on the item. The board then passed the ordinance amendment by voice vote.
Commissioners directed staff to circulate documentation describing the new process to elected officials and department heads so all parties understand the requirement for written approval.
Next steps: staff to prepare and distribute a memorandum outlining the new process and update internal procedures to ensure compliance with the ordinance.
