The St. Albans City Council approved a set of routine financial and operational items, including payment of invoices, demolition of a city property, a website upgrade contract and the municipal holiday schedule.
Councilman Catless moved to approve payment of current invoices totaling $25,770.63; the council approved the motion by voice vote. The council also approved demolition of property at 2843 McCorkle Avenue in the amount of $44,000, to be paid from line item 409-459-65; the demolition was approved contingent on the city obtaining ownership of the property.
Council approved a website upgrade contract with Ancona Industries not to exceed $4,900, with payments spread evenly across six months from line item 409-220; council discussion noted the upgrade will include limited AI-assisted features and that ongoing monthly costs will apply after the initial upgrade.
On holidays, the council set the municipal holiday schedule so that city MUC employees will observe a half day on Dec. 24, 2025 and a full day on Dec. 24, 2026, to allow operational scheduling for police, fire, collection and payroll. A motion to change the 2025 Christmas Eve to a full day was discussed but council ultimately approved the calendar as presented. Other community items—Festival of Lights attendance and upcoming markets and parades—were also reported.
The demolition approval is contingent on the city obtaining title; council did not record roll-call vote tallies in the meeting transcript. Council adjourned following public announcements and scheduling updates.
