Commissioners reject EMS building bids; approve routine claims, contracts and appointments

At their Oct. 20 meeting, the Grant County Board of Commissioners rejected all bids for the previously solicited EMS building project after finding proposals exceeded the county’s budget target. Commissioners said they will return to the project with a phased approach to preserve classroom and training functions and noted the county secured a six‑month extension on available insurance funds tied to the project.

Separately, the commissioners approved several routine and administrative items by voice vote, including ratification of claims dated Oct. 14 and Oct. 20, approval of payroll number 21 (gross $683,988.02), and approval of a Presidio quote to renew Office 365 licenses pending county attorney Harker’s review. The board approved an unofficial detour for a State Road 18/13 railroad crossing project, accepted the negotiated agreement between the Grant County Sheriff’s Department and the Internal Union of Police Associations Local 825 (pending attorney review), and approved a county farm lease with the winning bidder, Mister Devore, for $270 per acre pending signature and effective date finalization.

The board also adopted resolutions to pull specified tax‑sale certificates from sale (including 124 South Booth Street for the city of Marion), and appointed Kelly Brock, Julie Fuller and Richard Cox to the Property Tax Assessment Board of Appeals.
