The Monte Vista City Council approved two consultant contracts to guide transportation safety planning and modernize the city’s geospatial services.
On an SS4A (Safe Streets and Roads for All) grant-funded RFP, staff recommended and council approved awarding the safety action-plan contract to the consultant whose proposal emphasized public engagement and a funding roadmap for implementation. Staff said nine proposals were received; the selected consultant will produce the study that ranks dangerous streets and identifies near-term safety interventions. The council authorized Gigi Dennis to sign the contract.
Separately, council approved RFP 2025-PO2 for geospatial and permitting services and awarded a base contract to ARGIS Solutions (Denver) for $66,819 with two optional change orders. Staff described the project as a transition from the current IMGIS system to ArcGIS to provide both public-facing map layers (right-of-way distances, design-code links) and private staff layers for utilities and asset management. ARGIS is to provide licensing and two years of support and training so the city can maintain the system after that period.
Councilors said the geospatial work is intended to improve permitting, support grant applications, and provide traffic-collection tools (speed/radar trailers and road counters) to guide future capital work. The motions to award both contracts were moved, seconded, and carried in the meeting.
