The Newark City Council science committee voted to appropriate $2,000 for a recent donation from the Veterans of Foreign Wars at its meeting on Dec. 1, 2025.

The committee opened at 5:45 p.m. and a presiding speaker reported the unappropriated balance at $159,224 and the budget stabilization fund at $627,728. An unidentified committee member said the body "received a very generous donation from the VFW," and the item was placed as an appropriation request.

A motion to approve the $2,000 appropriation was made (identified in the transcript as Parker) and seconded by Hauser. The presiding speaker called the vote and recorded that the motion passed 5-0.
