Sam, the Authority's operations and recreation lead, updated the board on the Lakewide signage plan, master plans for access points and the EcoCounter visitor-counting program.
Landmark Design is preparing a brand guide and specific sign designs and will evaluate existing signage across the watershed to recommend maintenance or replacement. Sam said the goal is a consistent visitor experience across access points and expects initial deliverables to support a grant application by March 1 to fund manufacturing and installation.
On visitor counts, Sam said 33 of 34 counters are installed (one awaiting permit) and emphasized that raw counts capture vehicles or pedestrian passes — staff apply an average multiplier (3 people per vehicle) derived from the Authority's economic-impact analysis to approximate people counts. He warned data-cleaning is ongoing and pointed out clear anomalies (for example, an access point with minimal infrastructure registering unusually high counts), and said a public interactive dashboard is a future possibility once data quality and licensing costs are resolved.
