The Dennis‑Yarmouth varsity girls’ field hockey team was recognized at the Dec. 1 school committee meeting after winning the MIAA Division 4 state championship.

Assistant coach Kathy Malcajian (identified in the meeting) told the committee about the team’s playoff run — citing wins over Kingsbury and Ipswich, an overtime semifinal win and the 2–1 final in Burlington — and noted that 17 players are on the high‑honor or honor roll. She credited head coach Leslie LaFrance and community support including town police and fire escorts.

Superintendent Dr. Smith and the committee presented certificates of excellence to each player and thanked coaches and families. Committee members and the superintendent praised the team’s persistence and connection to the district.
