Warrick County drainage staff report favorable IDEM MS4 audit; stormwater rate increase scheduled for County Council on Dec. 2
Summary
Board counsel reported the Nov. 5 IDEM MS4 audit went well with a few corrections required; the proposed stormwater rate increase will go before the County Council on Dec. 2 and staff will represent the board at that meeting.
Board counsel updated the Warrick County Drainage Board Nov. 10 that an IDEM MS4 audit conducted Nov. 5 covered minimum control measures (MCMs) 1, 2, 3 and 6 and that both office and field portions of the audit "went very well," with only a few corrections requested.
"We went through the audit...The office part went very well. The field visits, again, went well. There were a few items she wanted corrected," the counsel said, adding that photographs and corrective follow‑up work are underway. Counsel expressed confidence the board will receive a satisfactory audit result after the requested corrections are submitted.
Counsel also said the drainage board’s proposed stormwater rate increase has been scheduled for the County Council meeting on Dec. 2. Because several board members will attend a commissioners conference, counsel said staff members Mori and Jennifer will represent the drainage board at the council meeting. The counsel noted that Dennis, the previous surveyor, has resigned his position, which informed the board’s decision to have staff handle the council presentation.
What happens next: staff will complete the audit corrections and submit required photographs; the stormwater rate proposal will be presented to County Council on Dec. 2 with representation by board staff.
