Warrick County Drainage Board approves minutes, pays claims and signs off on truck and Schmidt Cove drainage

Warrick County Drainage Board members voted Nov. 10 to approve routine business including minutes from Oct. 27, payment of $1,679.80 in claims, and staff recommendations on equipment and a small subdivision.

The board approved the Oct. 27 minutes and the claims disbursement by unanimous votes. Chad Wagner, who identified himself during the meeting as representing the surveyor for the Schmidt Cove proposal, described the project as a two‑lot split of a roughly 10.25‑acre parcel into a 7.25‑acre lot and a 3‑acre lot, with existing drainage flowing to on‑site pits. "Schmidt Cove is a, 2 lot subdivision...the original lot was a 10 and a quarter acre lot," Wagner said, arguing that no new drainage plan is necessary for the single additional residential structure. The board approved the drainage determination for Schmidt Cove by voice vote.

Board counsel reported that a 2025 Ram 5500 dump truck ordered for stormwater work was delivered Oct. 29 and asked the board to approve a final invoice of $105,907 "subject to those items being completed," citing minor punch‑list fixes such as replacement pins on the snowplow and a nonworking backup camera. The board approved the final cost contingent on completion of the listed repairs and corrections.

The approvals were procedural and nonbinding on outside bodies: where the board approved items "subject to" punch‑list completion it directed staff to verify fixes and to forward recommendations to the county commissioners when actions (such as pulling a letter of credit) would be required at the commissioners' level. The board adjourned after completing the agenda.

What happens next: staff will follow up on the truck punch list and the Schmidt Cove documentation as directed in the meeting; the board indicated inspections or additional engineer recommendations could be requested before final administrative sign‑offs.
