The Miami Lakes Public Safety Committee reviewed recent fundraising and budget classification issues on Dec. 1 and approved a set of small budget motions to cover outstanding invoices.

Staff told the committee that contributions and deferred revenue from recent events (including a car show) are still being reconciled and that some transactions (Square, PayPal, etc.) are pending and will appear as carryforward amounts in spring. A member noted a discrepancy between the roughly $10,800 the committee recalled raising at the car show and the smaller figures shown on the budget snapshot; finance staff said those receipts are pending reclassification.

To address an immediate invoice for awards and plaques, the committee moved $300 from the "events" line item to "awards/plaques." The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote to allow timely payment of a plaques invoice.

Separately, the committee revisited a per‑unit key‑fob/RFID invoice that had increased slightly since the last meeting. Staff described the change as a modest rise (a difference around $25.50 in total) and the committee approved the adjusted invoice amount as presented by staff.

Members directed staff to continue reconciliation with finance and to report back with an itemized reconciliation of carryforward funds at a future meeting. The committee did not request additional town funding beyond the $300 reallocation recorded at the meeting.
