ELKHART — The Elkhart City Planning Commission on Dec. 1 approved minutes from multiple past meetings, adopted its 2026 meeting calendar and approved addresses listed under staff item 25-S-10 before adjourning.
Commissioners unanimously moved to approve minutes from the July and August meetings, the Oct. 6 regular meeting and the Oct. 20 special meeting. Motions to approve were made and seconded during the meeting and no opposition was voiced.
The commission also adopted the 2026 calendar as presented. When a commissioner asked whether the interval between the filing date and the meeting date had changed, planning staff member Mr. Trotter replied, "It's approximately 5 weeks between file date and the meeting to give us time to advertise." The commission then moved to approve the calendar; members responded with 'aye' and the motion carried.
During the staff-items portion of the agenda, the body considered staff item 25-S-10 and the addresses included in the meeting packet. The commission approved those addresses after a motion by Mr. Jones, seconded by Mr. Newbill; commissioners indicated assent and the motion carried.
Speaking on behalf of planning staff, Mr. Trotter thanked commissioners "for your service for 2025" and said staff looks forward to seeing the commission in 2026, adding, "Have a happy and healthy holiday season." The meeting concluded after a motion to adjourn that passed with no opposition.
The session was brief and focused on routine housekeeping; no new land-use decisions or policy changes were taken.
