Lakemore council voted unanimously Tuesday to adopt a set of ordinances and resolutions that set the village's 2026 spending plan and authorize several contracts and personnel actions.
The council approved Ordinance 19O6-2025, which sets appropriations for the fiscal year ending Dec. 31, 2026, covering police, fire, public works, water and sewer funds and listing program-level totals. Council members then adopted a series of resolutions the meeting read by title and moved as emergency measures.
Key votes at the meeting included approval of Resolution 7508-2025, authorizing an intergovernmental agreement with the city of Akron for prosecutorial services in Akron Municipal Court for 2025'027; Resolution 7513-2025, hiring Mikayla Whaley as a full-time firefighter with the Lakemore Fire Department at $20 per hour with health insurance after 60 days; and Resolution 7514-2025, accepting the resignation of McKenna Ray as a part-time firefighter medic effective Dec. 31, 2025.
Council also approved Resolution 7515-2025, authorizing the police chief to enter a five-year contract with Axon Enterprise. The resolution text states the contract cost as $3,666.96 for year one and $8,250.66 in each of years two through five. Council approved Resolution 7516-2025, authorizing the mayor to enter an agreement with the Summit County Engineer for 2026 road paving and maintenance; and Resolution 7517-2025, authorizing the assistant fire chief to enter an MOU with the American Red Cross Northern Ohio region effective Dec. 1, 2025, through Dec. 1, 2028.
Several ordinance amendments passed as well. Ordinance 1910-2025 updates village EMS billing rates (BLS $850; ALS $1,000; ALS 2 $1,200; non-transport $300; mileage $16) and an amendment under Ordinance 1911-2025 increased appropriations for specific needs (phone/internet, legal notices, nuisance abatement) with transfers to the nuisance abatement fund.
All motions were moved, seconded and adopted by roll call vote; the transcript records affirmative 'Yes' responses from the members present for each item. Where the ordinance or resolution was declared an emergency, the council directed that it take effect immediately as provided in the document language.
The meeting concluded after housekeeping motions and an adjournment motion; the council scheduled its next regular meetings for Dec. 15 and Jan. 5, with a public hearing on the proposed water-rate changes set for Dec. 15 at 5:30 p.m.
