At its Dec. 1 meeting, the Gardner City Council approved a set of permits, infrastructure plans, budget transfers and personnel measures.
Key actions taken:
- Approved National Grid plan 3082599 (Item 11,730) to install a transformer pad and conduit on Pleasant Street to support downtown electrical upgrades; council voted to approve the plan after a public hearing and committee recommendation.
- Approved National Grid plan 3110000 (Item 11,731) for a handhold/conduit installation behind 8 Main Street to refeed downtown properties.
- Approved a flammable-storage license for EJ Wiesen Trucking (Item 11,716) for operations at 163–169 Colony Road after the safety committee and police inspected the site.

- Approved a $15,000 transfer to outside counsel for the law department (Item 11,736) and adopted a measure setting step designations for nonunion employees consistent with an amended Exhibit F (Item 11,738); council also moved an amended nonunion compensation schedule toward final printing after an amendment correcting Group 3B classifications.
