Clerk read Resolution 20250339, which makes awards totaling $3,235,983.69 to various municipalities under the FY2026 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and a CDBG‑CV round. County staff asked for a second‑reading suspension so projects can proceed on an expedited schedule; an applicant asked the committee to schedule a potential second reading for Dec. 9 if local funding arrives in time.
County staff reported 24 CDBG applications were submitted; staff said 20–21 moved forward while several applications were ineligible due to missing public meeting requirements or failure to meet HUD national objective criteria (area benefit, low/moderate clientele, or urgent need). The committee thanked staff for processing and asked follow‑up questions on recent applicants.
When asked about a specific application, DeRay Bridal (development specialist, housing and community development) said the Maple Heights Southgate gateway enhancement project will fund street improvements, new wayfinding signage and pothole repairs in the Southgate plaza area. Bridal confirmed staff will provide application details and follow up with additional information on ineligible applications if requested.
The committee voted to suspend the second reading and move Resolution 20250339 forward. Staff and council members emphasized the local impact of relatively modest grants — improvements to parks, playgrounds, sewer infrastructure and community centers — and thanked department staff for timely processing.
