Nick Fedor of the Department of Development told the committee that the Warner & Swayze project’s developer requested an extension of the county’s matching forgivable loan sunset date to align with an approved extension at the state level.
Fedor said the requested extension would change the Warner and Swayze loan sunset date from Nov. 30, 2025, to Dec. 31, 2026, and that the county’s loan is the county’s contribution to brownfield remediation. He said the developer revised its timeline and now aims to begin remediation in the first quarter of next year.
Council members asked whether a funding gap remains and what the county’s role covers; development staff said they did not have the specific gap amount available at the meeting and would follow up. A motion to forward Resolution 20250337 to full council was made, seconded and approved by the committee.
Later in the meeting county staff said the developer communicated that it had satisfied the previously noted gap, and staff would provide additional details and conditions associated with the commitments upon request. The committee vote advances the sunset extension to full council for final action.
