Denton County Commissioners unanimously approve Nov. 4 constitutional amendment canvass

The Denton County Commissioners Court met Friday and unanimously approved the county canvass of the Nov. 4, 2025 constitutional amendment election.

The court's presiding officer moved to approve the canvass of the Nov. 4 constitutional amendment election (agenda Item 2a); Commissioner Mitchell seconded the motion. After a voice vote in which all commissioners present said "aye," the chair announced, "Motion carries unanimous." The court then adjourned.

Frank Phillips, a member of the Denton County elections staff, told the court that "Once you approve these today, they'll become official, and we'll forward those official results to the state for them to canvass next week." The court confirmed that a precinct-based copy of the canvass was available for review and that the county will transmit the official results to state authorities for the formal statewide canvass.

Before voting, the court took a moment to thank the elections team. The presiding officer praised the "great exemplary job" of Denton County's election workers and their training program, saying he had received "so many positive, positive comments" about the work. Phillips accepted the praise and singled out a new trainer, calling her "fantastic." Commissioner Mitchell echoed the commendations and said he receives few complaints about the county's election operations.

The meeting was brief and limited to the canvass and related procedural matters; no members of the public were registered to speak. With the canvass approved, the county will forward its certified results to the state for the next step in the official canvass process.

The court adjourned following the unanimous vote.
