State Board Unanimously Approves Agenda, Minutes and Honors A+ College Ready Schools and Inclusion Week

The Alabama State Board of Education on Nov. 13 completed routine business, unanimously approving the meeting agenda and the minutes from its Oct. 9 session before moving to a series of recognitions.
During roll call, the clerk confirmed a quorum. The board then moved and approved the meeting agenda and previously distributed minutes by voice/raised-hand votes; the record showed unanimous approval for both procedural items.
The board next considered and adopted multiple ceremonial resolutions recognizing schools participating in the A+ College Ready program. Among those honored was Denton Magnet School of Technology in the Mobile County School System, which the board recognized as a 2025 A+ College Ready Mary D. Bohm School of Achievement. The board also adopted resolutions recognizing the 2025 A+ College Ready Schools of Excellence and the 2025 A+ College Ready Schools of Distinction. All recognitions were approved by voice vote and recorded as unanimous.
In addition, the board adopted a resolution recognizing Inclusion in Alabama Schools during the week of December 2025, emphasizing the board's focus on including students with special needs in academic and extracurricular programs.
Board staff noted that many local school board members, superintendents, principals and teachers were present for the recognitions. Representatives from the Alabama Association of School Boards, Sally Smith and Tracy Meyer, were specifically acknowledged.
The chair announced the next meeting will be Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025, at 10 a.m. in the Gordon Persons Building Auditorium. A motion to adjourn was made, seconded and approved, and the meeting concluded.
