Denton County proclaims November as National Native American Heritage Month

The Denton County Commissioners Court on Nov. 4 approved a proclamation recognizing November as National Native American Heritage Month.
Sue May of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Sandy Marble (Benjamin Lyon chapter) spoke to the court about the local Native American heritage and invited the public to an exhibit at the Emily Fowler Library. The proclamation text recited the historical contributions of American Indians and asked residents to observe the month. Commissioner Williams moved to approve the proclamation; Commissioner Mitchell seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
The court encouraged citizens to visit the library exhibit and noted the county’s history and recognition of Indigenous contributions.
