Commissioners approve social services agreements with child-advocacy and health providers

The Denton County Commissioners Court on Nov. 4 approved social services agreements for 2025–2026 with the Children’s Advocacy Center for North Texas and with Health Services of North Texas.
Kristen (CEO of the Children’s Advocacy Center for North Texas) thanked the court for funding and described the center’s work: nine new children enter the center each day with reports of crimes against them, the center provides training for local law enforcement and supports investigation and prosecution efforts. "The people who hurt our kids, we simply must do right by them," Kristen said, thanking the court for its partnership.
Doreen Rue of Health Services of North Texas said the clinic network is on track to serve more than 20,000 people this year, the majority of whom are Denton County residents, delivering care from prenatal services through senior care. The court recognized both organizations’ roles in serving uninsured and low-income residents and approved the agreements by unanimous vote (motion by Commissioner Edmonson; second by Commissioner Mitchell).

The court provided physical checks at the meeting to program representatives and noted ongoing collaboration between the county and nonprofit partners.
