Commissioners on the Encinitas Commission for the Arts discussed parade plans and volunteer roles for the city’s holiday parade, scheduled for Dec. 6.
Ad hoc members reported that the city has arranged a truck for the commission’s float and secured a local youth family band called The Longview, which staff described as ages roughly 12–20 and planning a set of Christmas and surf music. "They’re all age ranges from, I think, 12 to 19, 20. And they’re gonna play a a mix of Christmas and surf music," staff said.
Staff offered two hand carts with giveaway packs promoting Pacific View’s open house and upcoming classes, and asked for two commissioners or volunteers to carry the commission banner in front of the vehicle. "We have little packs of pencils, some notebooks, tote bags, buttons," staff said, encouraging commissioners to let staff know if they would carry banners or recruit volunteers.
On logistics, staff and a city representative confirmed there will be parking available at City Hall on parade day, though spaces are first‑come and not reserved. Margaret Hamer noted the night before the parade is the annual tree lighting at Moonlight Beach (4:00 p.m.), a separate community event that could affect parade volunteers’ schedules.
Next steps: staff will circulate vehicle size and check‑in details to parade participants; commissioners who plan to march or hand out items were asked to RSVP to staff.
