Board staff reported that the JRD’s community needs assessment has received 902 survey responses, well above the 150–200 responses the project team had expected. “We have 902 at the last count,” the presenter said, calling the turnout “a tremendous number.”
Staff said roughly 80–81% of respondents are residents from the three member jurisdictions, with other nearby respondents also represented. Although responses have been “very positive” overall, staff said concerns persist about long-term financing and the yet-to-be-determined site location for a future recreation facility.
To deepen stakeholder input on youth programming, staff asked board members to provide names and contact information for youth-sports representatives; the consultant team will convene an online focus group later in the month to gather input from baseball, softball, hockey and other sports stakeholders. The presenter said the project team will prepare a summary of survey findings and expects to share that report before the next JRD meeting. The board did not take a formal vote on the assessment update.
