Boone County Highway staff opened bids for several county roadway and bridge projects at the Dec. 1 commissioners meeting and asked the board to take the bids under advisement for later tabulation and award.
For Project 2025-11 (replacement of small structures E001), highway director Nick Barr reported four bids: E & B Paving (total $215,650; base A $129,843; base B $85,807), Morphy Construction ($241,000), Crackers Demo ($231,716.32) and Conexco Inc. ($178,298). Commissioners voted by voice to take the submissions under advisement for bid tabs and further review.
Bids also were opened for Bridge 158 (on 25 West/Pittsburgh Blacktop). Reported totals: Hoosier Pride Excavating $676,835.23; Quantum Contractors $738,916.50; HIS Constructors $767,792.43; Duncan Robinson Inc. $791,506.22. Those bids likewise were taken under advisement.
Highway staff additionally summarized 2026 annual materials bids across multiple categories—liquid asphalts, aggregates, pipe/culvert materials, pavement markings, fog-sealing and microsurfacing—and said bid tabulations will be prepared before any awards. A contract for polymeric bridge deck overlays with Eneking Pressure Washing (not to exceed $268,163.95) and a rigid overlay contract with E & B (not to exceed $243,880) were both approved at the meeting.
No final awards were made for the large set of materials bids; staff will present bid tabs and recommendations at a later meeting.
