The Brockton Finance Committee on Dec. 1 recommended two mayoral appointments to city boards.

Faye Slayton was presented for appointment as an alternate to the Brockton Council on Aging for a three-year term ending November 2028. Slayton told the committee she has lived in Brockton for several years and has done ‘‘community volunteer work’’ for decades, saying she wants ‘‘to learn and experience other ways to help in my community.’’ Councilor McCastro said Slayton is his constituent and ‘‘will be an asset to the council on aging.’’ The committee moved and voted to recommend the appointment favorably to the full City Council.

The committee also recommended favorably the appointment of Peter Gaskins of Country Club Lane to the Cemetery Board of Trustees for a five-year term ending November 2029. Mayor Robert Sullivan and other supporters highlighted Gaskins’s family history with cemeteries and his interest in serving. Gaskins said his background ‘‘is definitely up my alley’’ and that he looks ‘‘forward to working with other committee members.’’ The committee voted to send the nomination to the full council for final approval.

Both items were acted on during the Finance Committee meeting and will be forwarded to the full City Council for confirmation.
