Laura (recreation staff) told the commission the department currently absorbs a 3% processing fee when customers pay in person but had been passing it to customers for online purchases; she proposed the policy change to pass the fee to customers for all card transactions to ease reconciliation.

"So everything will be passed off to the customer going forward," Laura said, explaining that other public pools and recreation desks in the area follow similar practices and the department confirmed the change is administratively permissible with the city attorney and vendor.

Commission members discussed the potential impact on customers and small businesses. Katie, a committee member, said she understands how processing fees can burden small businesses. The commission voted to support the staff recommendation to pass the 3% processing fee to customers for card transactions; the motion carried.
