Board approves consent agenda, personnel actions and charter renewal resolutions unanimously

The Montgomery County Board of Education on Oct. 21 unanimously approved a slate of superintendent recommendations bundled in the consent agenda, including personnel reports (certified and classified), financial statements, minutes and delegate selections for the Alabama Association of School Boards (AASB).
Superintendent Dr. Byrd presented the recommendations, which the board moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. "All those in favor do so by a showing of hands. It is unanimous," the chair said as multiple items passed without dissent.
The board also voted to authorize superintendent‑level negotiation for charter contract renewals for Life Academy and Davis Elementary. Dr. Gregory King presented the charter renewal resolution and asked the board to approve giving the superintendent authority to enter renewal negotiations. The board approved that resolution as part of the consent/consideration actions.
Board members selected five delegates and an alternate for the AASB December meeting; the board also recorded routine approvals for job description updates and multiple personnel addenda. Where discussion arose (for example, a question on the McGraw Hill/ALEKS item), members reserved the right to pull items from the consent agenda for separate consideration.
