Staff described the piece as a 16-by-16 hand-cut and woven print from a 'tapestry of remembrance' series that explores memory, displacement and identity through deconstructed photographic prints and woven formats. Staff said Cubberley residency terms include community service and donation of work at the conclusion of a residency and that the piece was delivered 'hang-ready.'
Commissioners asked where the portable-collection work might be displayed; staff said portable-collection works are hung throughout the city and location will be determined. A commissioner moved to accept the donation; the motion was seconded and approved by roll call with all commissioners present voting yes.
No additional funds or hardware were requested for acceptance; staff will place the work into the city collection and determine initial display location.
