Parish President reported that EOC staff and emergency responders from the school system, police, fire, EMS and parish departments recently participated in the parish’s biannual Waterford 3 drill with FEMA and the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality. He said the exercise—required by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission every two to three years—was well received by the scoring team, though official ratings remain pending.
The president also promoted a business meet‑and‑greet for current and prospective business owners from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at River Parishes Community College in Boutte; attendees were asked to RSVP to econdev@saintcharlesgov.net to learn about parish economic programs and resources.
On community services, he announced the annual toy and gift fund will be held Saturday, Dec. 13, at the Edward A. Dufferin Community Center for parish children ages 0–14; parents or guardians must attend and show proof of residency (IDs will be checked at the door). He thanked sponsors including Valero and United Way.
To close, he invited residents to the Norco Christmas Parade at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, themed “Norco Noel” in celebration of Norco’s centennial; public works has installed lights and banners and will place barricades and crowd control along the route, and Santa will arrive on the levee.
Next steps: parish staff will continue outreach for the business event and prepare logistics for holiday events.
