At the start of its meeting the Redondo Beach City Council presented a plaque recognizing the 100th anniversary of the Rotary Club of Redondo Beach; club president Mike Stark described the group—s volunteer work in vision screening, scholarships and Meals on Wheels. The council also honored Melanie Chavera for 13 years of service as a city prosecutor and noted her appointment by Governor Newsom to the Los Angeles Superior Court.
City clerk Eleanor Manzano administered the oath to a newly appointed senior deputy city prosecutor, who thanked colleagues and mentors. Council members and attendees offered congratulations.
These ceremonial items were presented as part of regular council recognitions and required no council action beyond the presentations and the swearing-in.
