The council held and closed a public hearing on the Riviera Village Business Improvement District's 2025 annual report and unanimously adopted a resolution confirming the report and levying the 2026 assessment at the same rates as the prior year.
Waterfront economic development director Greg Kapovich explained the BID funding structure: businesses pay a base fee (noted in the record as $125) plus $34 per employee; property owners pay a $1.25 base plus $34 per unit, with a $1,400 cap on assessments. The association allocates revenue historically at roughly 50% for beautification, 40% for marketing and 10% for administration.
Riviera Village Association representative Mike Ward highlighted ongoing projects including maintenance of dining decks (post-COVID infrastructure), a weekly farmers market, seasonal events that attract thousands of visitors and collaborative work with public safety and public works to keep the village attractive and safe.
The council—s adoption of resolution CCDash2511DashO89 confirms the 2025 report and authorizes the assessment for calendar year 2026.
